I'm busy sewing next door.

I spent the day at my niece's celebrating Greek Easter with most of my relatives. She has a great condo in Boston (JP). As I was standing in her kitchen the realization hit me that she has grown up, settled, a big girl now. A little weepy, but I recovered.  She has my old sewing machine and today I gave her a lesson in how to use it.
I  showed her how to use the machine and hem her drapes that have been drooping on the floor. She, her sister, and I had a nice moment over the sewing machine. When I saw the Ikea fabric  I got all fired up to sew again. I hope to have some new things to show very soon. Oh, btw, the food and family time was fabulous.

So, here's the thing. See that gorgeous machine up there? It does everything but cut the fabric for me. It is not compatible with Mac. It needs a PC to run the embroidery part. Can you believe it?? When PC made it's swan song I didn't think twice about my sewing machine. To use the part of the machine that I paid $$$$$ for, I have to bring it close to a PC. We do have one that husband uses in the dinning room, but UGH.My sewing room that I waited years for can't handle my sewing machine!!! It could be worse.
My sewing room

This photograph is from a Singer sewing book back many years ago. I have been imagining this as my own sewing room since I was in high school.

Some Charlie Bags. The free pattern is from Burda Style. It's a great site if you like to sew. Lots of free patterns to download, how-to's, creations/ideas.  Another site for children's patterns is Oliver+S, not free, but great little patterns that come with paper doll cut outs.

I hardly have time for 1 blog, let alone 2. I'll just  post pictures of my creations. I'll keep my musing to I'm Busy Knitting.  Enough thinking aloud.
This yellow is a cotton stretch.  I love the feel of it.
Next is a small pile,
more like miniscule pile from
Fabric Fix's once a year tent sale.
Ikea fabric...so merimekko-like.
I'm thinking of stretching it on to a frame.

Living Room valance.
The fabric is railroaded with a thin
stripe of blue thread going down
the fabric.

A sewing blog. Not to be confused with my knitting blog...I'm busy knitting. Here, I'm busy sewing. I've been busy sewing for as long as I remember. My father bought me my first pair of scissors and encouraged me to sew. My grandmother was a tailor, and made men's suits. My grandfather sold sewing machines. I must of inherited my craftyness.

I just finished this tiny purse...cute.

These sailboats are for my cutie niece and nephew.

For my cutie patootie. My first (and possibly last) embroidery project.
